activity. Its calorie burning and weight-loss potential are similar
to that of a running program, yet it's much easier on the body because
there's about half the impact and wear and tear on your joints.
There are many benefits to power walking including toning muscles,
thighs, hips, shoulders, upper back and abs‹helping to shed
the pounds. In this walking and workout program, we'll learn about
proper equipment, stretching, trekking, and building and finding
our target heart rates. We'll begin our walks with a slower-paced
warm-up, working our way up to a brisk 30-minute walk, and ending
with a cool-down. All fitness levels are welcome. Please wear loose
comfortable clothing and appropriate footwear, and bring a water
bottle. Hiking or walking sticks (optional) are also recommended

Works recently participated in “Wellness Week” at Boston’s
Logan International Airport. The event – funded by the Robin
Hood Foundation of New York and managed by The Center for Multicultural
Mental Health at Boston University’s School of Medicine –
was designed to alleviate the stress and anxiety that airport workers
have been facing since the devastating events of September 11th,
2001.
Employees of both American Airlines and United Airlines
were introduced to a variety of health disciplines including massage,
chiropractic, and fitness training. Wellness Works demonstrations
included exercise ball demonstrations, Pilates instruction, and
body composition analysis. In addition to two engagements with the
airlines, Wellness Works participated in a separate event for employees
of Massport Fire & Rescue.
January, 2004 – Wellness
Works introduced “FitLetter,”
a quarterly newsletter for clients and anyone interested in improving
their health and wellness. The newsletter is mailed to all people
who have signed up for our mailing list. It is also available as
a download in PDF
format.
October, 2003 – Ciclismo
Classico, our favorite bike touring company which specializes in
Italian bike tours, has turned to Wellness Works for cycling training
tips for its corporate website. The goal is to draw on Wellness
Works’ expertise to help get their customers in shape for
their challenging bicycle tours through the Alps, Appenines, and
picturesque towns of Italy. Read about us in Ciclismo Classico's
most recent newsletter. Also be sure to check out Ciclismo
Classico's website.
