Frequently Asked Questions

Q What if I like the idea of getting into better shape and improving my wellness, but I’m not sure that I can do it?
Many clients of Wellness Works felt the same way in the beginning. But today, virtually all of them have maintained the exercise regimen and lifestyle changes that Wellness Works has shown them, and they all look and feel so much better than they did before. You can too.

Q What happens after I call Wellness Works and make my first appointment? Our very first visit to your home is a one-hour 15 minute consultation. At that time we assess your current fitness level and lifestyle by asking you lots of questions such as what time you get up in the morning, what time you retire for the evening, what time of the day you have your meals, etc. We also check your blood pressure and conduct a body fat analysis. The goal is to get an accurate picture of your body today so that we can track positive changes over time.

Q How long will it take for me to get into better shape?
That depends on how hard you are willing to work, and for how long. Clients who can commit to an exercise regimen three times a week start seeing results in a matter of months, and usually reach their weight loss and fitness objectives in about a year.

Q What if I’m in really terrible condition?
That’s why we’re here! We want to help you get into the best shape of our life, and give you the training and education to stay there on your own.

Q What kind of equipment will I need to buy?
Ideally, if your workouts are going to be in your home, you would want to have a weight bench, a number of free weights, an exercise ball, and an exercise mat. In a perfect world, you could add a motorized treadmill. All of these items are readily available at sporting goods stores such as Gym Source, and Omni Fitness. It’s a one time expense that will help you to get and keep in shape for years to come!

Q How often will I need to exercise?
Ideally, three to four times a week, with each workout lasting between 30 and 40 minutes. While it may be difficult in the beginning, in time these workouts will become a regular part of your daily routine. By the time we’re done with you, you will look forward to your workouts!

Q How much does it cost to work with Wellness Works?
Our rate for our personal trainers as of January 2005 is $130 per hour. Our trainers come to your home or office, and you are not charged for travel time. All of our trainers have extensive backgrounds in exercise, nutrition, and wellness.  Think of this personal training as an investment in yourself – a gift that will last you a lifetime.  To give you a frame of reference, let’s say you decide to work with a trainer twice a month for the next year. Your total cost would be $3000, roughly equivalent to a nice cruise or vacation.

Q How many sessions should I sign up for?
That’s a personal financial decision you will have to make. However, the twice a month program that we just referenced is an excellent starting point for most people.

Q How do I stay in shape after I’m no longer working with Wellness Works? You could stay in touch with Wellness Works by doing some occasional phone coaching or e-Coaching every now and then. We would also encourage you to visit our website on a regular basis to keep abreast of what’s new. And you should most definitely get on the mailing list for our FitLetter quarterly newsletter.  The newsletter is written for people just like you, who want to get fit and feel good – for life!
